Maki, Selma Rose (13 OCT 1893 – 19 MAR 1966)
Mrs. Hjalmar Maki, nee Selma Rose Niemi, a resident of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.)
since 1935, died of a lingering illness March 19, 1966 at the Havenet Nursing
Home, Owen.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the Bethany
Lutheran Church. Rev. Robert Sutherland read the final rites, with burial being
made at Riverside Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Kauno, Allen and Onnie Niemi, Walfred Havelin, Sigmund Anderson
and Edward Porath.
The former Selma Rose Niemi was born Oct. 13, 1893, in Finland, and in 1917 came
to this country and settled in Pennsylvania. She later moved to DeKalb, Ill.,
where, on Oct. 13, 1917, she married Hjalmar Maki, who preceded her in death in
1941. The couple came to Owen in 1935.
Survivors are three sons, Toivo and Aiyo? Maki, Owen; and Lester Maki, Eau
Claire; and two grandchildren.
