Armitage, Adelbert (Killed in Action – 26 Sep 1918)
Mr. and Mrs. Willie Armitage received a copy of the Montrose, Colo., Daily Press
last week telling of the death of Adelbert Armitage. He was killed aboard the
Mt. Vernon, which was attacked by a submarine. He was born in Neillsville on
Sept. 14, 1895, and was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Armitage. He was a fireman
aboard the Mt. Vernon and had made eight trips across the Atlantic. The Montrose
paper speaks of him in the very highest terms of praise and he was evidently a
very popular young man in that community.
