NHS Salutatorian (Sidney Miller - 2015)
Neillsville High School has announced the Class of 2015 Valedictorian and
Salutatorian.
Sidney Miller is the salutatorian. She has been on the Straight A Honor Roll for
16 consecutive quarters.
Miller has had an exemplary high school career in co-curricular activities,
participating in volleyball, basketball, softball, FFA, student council, chorus,
Nation Honor Society, Spanish honor Society, Spanish Club, the Little Buddy
program, the high school musical and Jesus for Teens.
She lettered in three varsity sports and in 2015 was named Cloverbelt Conference
All-Conference honorable mention in basketball.
Miller also received an Academic Letter with a bar and pin. In 2013 she was the
FFA Star Greenhand and top fruit seller.
She has a long resume of community service, including Adopt a Highway, raking
lawns for elderly members of St. John’s Lutheran Church, calling bingo at
Neillsville Care and Rehabilitation and keeping score and refereeing for local
youth tournaments. She was named the Junior Kiwanian in December 2014.
Miller has also been a swimming teacher for three years, a waitress for three
years, dish-washer for two years and has cooked at Schmitty’s on Main for one
year.
This summer, Miller plans to work as a swim instructor and divide her
waitressing time up between Schmitty’s on Main, M&M Catering and the Stone’s
Throw Supper Club.
Miller will attend UW-Eau Claire to obtain a degree in nursing. Her career goal
is becoming a registered nurse anesthetist.
She is the daughter of Dennis and Jane Miller.
The Neillsville High School Commencement Ceremony will be held in the Fieldhouse
Saturday, May 23, 2015, at 2 p.m. Eighty-three members of the class of 2015 will
receive their diplomas.
Principal Craig Anderson Ruskin will introduce the graduates. He will present
diplomas along with Neillsville School Board President Dewey Poeschel.
The class flower is Peruvian Lily. Class colors are red and white.
During the ceremony 26 honor students will be recognized. The Concert Choir will
perform “I Was Here.” The Senior Choir will perform “Anyway.”
The Neillsville High School Band will offer several selections.
