2nd Lt. Johan A. Southworth, son of Mr. and Mrs. Claire Southworth, rural Owen
(Clark Co., Wis.) graduated April 26th, 1966, from the U.S. Army Artillery and
Missile O.C.S. at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and was commissioned 2nd lt.. At the
graduation of the 23 week course Lt. Southworth received the Leadership Award.
Attending the graduation ceremony were his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claire
Southworth, his sister, Bernice, Madison, and brother, Donald, of Wausau.
His mother pinned the Gold Bars on him in the absence of his wife, Elizabeth,
who is residing in Stratford after having given birth to a son, John Claire, on
April 6th. They also have two daughters, Karin, age four, and Theresa, age
three.
After a 15-day leave, Lt. Southworth and family will leave for his next duty
station with Special Forces at Fort Bragg, N.C.
Lt. Southworth entered the army in 1956 and has served nine years with the
Special Forces as an enlisted man. He is a master parachutist. He was graduated
from Owen High School in 1955.
