Klapatauskas, Julius Edward (15 April 1923 - 25 May 2015)
Julius E. Klapatauskas of Thorp passed away peacefully in his sleep, at the age
of 92, on Monday, May 25, 2015, at Oakbrook Health & Rehab in Thorp. Funeral
services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at Holy Family
Catholic Church, in Willard. Burial will follow in Holy Family Catholic
Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Todd Klapatauskas, Greg Klapatauskas, Kyle
Klapatauskas, Clint Klapatauskas, Sean Doepke and Blake Jordan. Visitation will
be held at the church, on Saturday, from 9 a.m. until time of service.
Julius Edward Klapatauskas was born on April 15, 1923, in the Town of Mead, the
son of Mike and Cazimera (Jazdowskas) Klapatauskas. As one of twelve children,
Julius was raised on the family farm and received his education at Eastside
School in the Town of Butler. He was united in marriage to Frieda Cornwell on
July 29, 1944, at Holy Family Catholic Church, in Willard. Julius lived and
farmed in the Town of Mead his entire life. In addition to farming, he also
served as chairman for the Town of Mead for over 20 years, and served on the
Clark County Board of Supervisors for 26 years.
He had many interests, but especially enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, shooting
pool, bowling, playing cards, and spending time with his family and friends.
Julius provided 55 years of faithful service to the Knights of Columbus, and was
an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard. He was also a
longtime member of the Rock Dam Rod & Gun Club.
He is survived by his children: Eunice (Ron) Hendrickson of Spencer, Julius A.
Klapatauskas of Thorp, Arlen Klapatauskas of Thorp, Randy (Leeann) Klapatauskas
of Thorp and Karen (Robert) Jordan of Fairland, IN; one daughter-in-law, Susan
Klapatauskas of Thorp; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one
sister-in-law, Margie Klapatauskas of Withee; many nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frieda, on June 16, 1992; son, Nicholas,
on February 17, 2004; eight sisters: Katie Gregorich, Mary Fischer, Estelle
Dulinsky, Anne Klapatauskas, Martha Podobnik, Josephine Wind, Frances Vallone,
and Agnes Debevec; and three brothers; Mike, Charlie and a brother in infancy.
