Poeschel, Myrna Janice (7 August 1933 - 29 May 2015)

Myrna Janice “Gramma Honey” Poeschel, 81, died peacefully Friday, May 29, 2015, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. She was surrounded by her loving husband and children when she drew her last breath.

Myrna was born Aug. 7, 1933, to Archie and Jessie (Coburn) Richardson in Arkansaw, WI. She was the seventh of nine brothers and sisters. Arkansaw was her home until she graduated high school and met the love of her life, Darrell, at a dance. After a couple years of courting, they were married July 10, 1956, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Lima, WI, and started their family of six kids. Neillsville became home in 1977 when they bought the old Farmers Store and opened D & M Department Store. After a few years of business they sold, and she went into home childcare until she retired.

During her younger years, Myrna was quite busy raising children while Darrell worked, but as time passed she was able to enjoy some gardening, sewing, golfing, cards, playing board games and spending time in the kitchen. There was always a dessert on the counter. She wasn’t afraid to try a new recipe but always went back to the old favorites. There were very few sporting events she didn’t watch her grandchildren participate in. As age caught up with her, she could be found in her chair watching a movie, reading a book or taking a nap. Family was the most important thing in her life, and she instilled many wonderful qualities in her kids and grandkids. There are a lot of “Myrnisums” that will being smiles to faces for years to come.

Myrna will be thought of often by her husband of 58 years, Darrell; her children: Nick Poeschel and Spring Fleming, Marshfield; Dewey and Kory Poeschel, Neillsville; Esta and Mike Mattice, Eau Claire; Amy and Robin Harder, Neillsville; Bill and Bev Poeschel, Neillsville; and Tonya and Jerry Pfeiffer, Neillsville; grandchildren: Tyler, Dani, Allie, Kendie and Sammie Pfeiffer; Sarah, Courtney, Justin, Chris and Jamie Poeschel; Derek and Cassie Harder and Josh; Nicki Voss; Jodi and Jess Mattice and Celina; Logan, Kelsey and Dillon Poeschel; Tucker, Kane and Stone Johnson; and Jeff Barum; and great-grandchildren: Tehya, Jordan, Alliyah and Hayden. She is further survived by her siblings: Lillian White, Lyle and Ethel Richardson, Archie Jr. and Karen Richardson, Marlys Baskin, Rich and Lou Richardson and Dayna Rutherford; in-laws, Lois Richardson, Arnie Poeschel, Norma Crawford, Linda Rudy , and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

There will be a celebration of Myrna’s life during visitation at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville, June 3, 2015, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
