Sheets, Mr./Mrs. Carl (Gold – 5 JUL 1966)

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Sheets celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Sunday, July 3 at St. Paul's Church at Curtiss, holding open house for their relatives and friends from 2 to 5 p.m.

The table was decorated with yellow and white flowers and a four tiered wedding cake. The wedding couple had yellow mums and white carnations fashioned into their corsage and boutonniere. Identical flowers were worn by the attendants.

Mr. and Mrs. Sheets were married on July 5, 1916 at the Methodist Church at Greenwood by Rev. J. Scott Willmarth. Attending the couple were Mrs. Sheet's sister, Manda Ystad (Mrs. Otto Goehring) and Leland Sheets, brother of the groom.

Mrs. Sheets, the former Alma Ystad, was born at Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) on Dec. 28, 1891. Mrs. Sheets was born at Columbus Grove, Ohio on Oct. 21, 1889. They farmed in the Greenwood area until 1934, when they moved to a farm near Curtiss. Later they moved to Taylor County, and in 1951 they moved back to their present home on rt. 1, Curtiss.

The couple are parents of four sons, Adrian of Villa Grove, Ill.; Kenneth of Winona, Minn.; Neil of Marshfield, John of Unity; two daughters, Virginia of Owen and Carol of Dorchester. There are 25 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Telephone calls were received from two grandchildren unable to attend. Mrs. Arley Brown (the former Betty Jo Sheets) of Thebes, Ill. and Richard Dunow of Kenosha.
