Christensen, Jensine (7 MAR 1881 – 3 AUG 1966)

Funeral services for Mrs. Jacob (Jensine) Christensen, a resident of this community for the past 49 years, were held Saturday afternoon, Aug. 6. Final rites were conducted from the Nazareth Lutheran Church, Withee, with Rev. Robert Sutherland of Unity officiating, and burial was made in the parish cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Elton and Walter Fritz, Gaylord Kaduce, Andrew Olsen, Dan Anderson and Arnold Rasmussen.

Mrs. Christensen passed away at 3:45 Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 3, 1966, at St. Joseph's Hospital at Marshfield, where she had been a patient for but three days. She had attained the age of 85 years.

Jensine Magdalene Nielsen was born March 7, 1881 in Denmark, the daughter of Karen and Jeppe Nielsen. When she was but a girl of seven years old, she moved with her parents to ….(unreadable on my copy)…, Minn. On Nov. 30, 1901 she and the late Jacob Christensen were united in marriage at Hutchinson, Minn., and moved to Spring Valley, Minn. in 1908, remaining there until 1917, when they came to this area, settling on a farm in the town of Hoard (Clark Co., Wis.), which they farmed until Mr. Christensen died in 1956. Since that time she had made her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Potocnik on the home place, until they retired and moved to Owen and Withee, where they have lived this past year and a half.

Mrs. Christensen was a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church at Withee and the Danish Ladies Aid, and during the years when she was active and her health permitted, was active in parish affairs.

She is survived by two children, a son, Harold, and daughter, Mrs. John (Margrete) Potocnik, Withee; five grandchildren, Don Christensen, Eau Claire, Mrs. Robert (Elaine) Helberg, Rice Lake, Mrs. Jim (Jean) Englebretson, Withee; Mrs. Elliott (Karen) Paulsen, Balsam Lake, and Kristi Potocnik of Withee; and four great-grandsons.
