Giwojna, Edward A. (2 April 1929 - 8 June 2015) With Flag
Edward A. Giwojna, 86, of Stanley, died Monday, June 8, 2015, at the Cornell
Care Center under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice. He was born on April 2,
1929, in the Withee area to the late Joseph and Michalina “Minnie” (Rembleski)
Giwojna. Ed grew up in the area and graduated from Thorp High School. He went on
to serve his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Ed worked in the
auto body trade, primarily for Stanley Truck Sales. He was a member of Stanley
VFW Post 2711.
Ed is survived by his children: Barb (Jack Spuhler) Lane of Thorp, Don (Carol)
Giwojna of Stanley, Sue Ernst of Owen, and Edward “Butch” DeeAnn) Giwojna of
Sheldon; one step-daughter, Jackie (Pete) Luikart of MN; seven grandchildren;
and many great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: John, Frank, Ray, and
Tony Giwojna; and four sisters: Eva Swienta, Frances Wheeler, Victoria Fasnacht
and Stella Swifka.
A funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2015, at the Plombon
Funeral Home, Stanley. Burial followed in the Oakland Cemetery, Stanley, with
Military Rites by VFW Post 2711. Visitation was from 11 a.m. until time of
service Thursday at the funeral home.
