Mattes, Arthur L. (31 AUG 1918 – 7 MAR 1968)

Arthur L. Mattes, 49, passed away at Victory Memorial Hospital, Stanley, on Thursday, March 7th, 1968, after a lingering illness.

Art, a farmer and employee of Foremost Dairy, was born Aug. 31, 1918 in the township of Reseburg (Clark Co., Wis.), where he lived all his life. He was married to Dorothy Ramberg June 7, 1941, also in the township of Reseburg.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 9 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Rev. Robert Olson officiated at the two p.m. service, with burial in the Sylvan Cemetery in the Township of Reseburg.

Pallbearers were Robert Buss, Chippewa Falls, Philip Mattes Jr. and Don Mattes, Thorp, Marlyn Mattes, Milwaukee, Gerald Brandt, Stevens Point and Clarence Mattes, Thorp.

Surviving are his wife Dorothy; one sons, Aaron, who is attending the University of Superior, Superior, Wis.; one daughter, Myrna of Minneapolis; three brothers, Hugo Mattes in Illinoi and Philip and Harold Mattes, both of Thorp.; one sister, Norma, of Milwaukee, and numerous nieces and nephews.
