An almost unanimous decision against annexing the Curtiss State Graded School
District to the Owen or Abbotsford High School District was registered Thursday
evening when voters of the Curtiss district rejected the proposal, 79 to 1, at a
special meeting at the schoolhouse.
The previous week, electors of the Pleasant Hill district, of the Town of
Mayville, voted against any change in the status of the district.
Clayton Wright, Clark county superintendent of schools, explained the several
and various aspects of a move to join a high school district for the gathering.
He explored the costs of education within a high school district as compared to
tuition costs under recent legislation, pointing to saving possible in high
school districts with low or no indebtedness.
