Hamel, Marcella A. (Fischer) (5 MAY 1933 - 21 JUN 2015)

Medford native Marcella A. Hamel, 82, West Lafayette, Ind., passed away on Sunday, June 21 in St. Elizabeth East. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 25 at 6:30 p.m. at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church located at 3509 Soldiers Home Road, West Lafayette. Visitation begins at 5:30 p.m.

The former Marcella Fischer was born on May 5, 1933 in Medford, WI to the late George and Barbara (Frischman) Fischer. On July 15, 1951 she married Leon V. Hamel in Medford.

Marcella worked for Home Health Care as a LPN for over 20 years. She was a member of Seventh-Day Adventist Church in West Lafayette. Marcella loved planting and maintaining her flower gardens, visiting family in Wisconsin, and visits with her children and grandchildren.

Surviving are her husband, Leon Hamel of Lafayette; her sister, LaVerne (Fischer) Harder of Medford; brothers, Jerry Fischer of Hartford, and Glendon Fischer of LaCrosse; her children, Alice Stanifer (Leamon) of Lafayette, Keith Hamel of Orlando, Fla., and Scott Hamel of Lafayette; and an adopted daughter, Kim Pham of Harrisburg, Penn. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five siblings.
