Treu, Leona (20 February 1902 - 22 November 1973)
Funeral services were held Saturday morning from St. Stephen’s Catholic Church,
Chili, for Mrs. Leona Treu, 71, who died November 22 at her home in Granton
following a heart attack. The Rev. Robert Houston officiated and burial was made
in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. A wake Friday evening at the Gilbertson Funeral
Home, Granton, where the body of Mrs. Treu was in state, was followed by an
Altar Society rosary.
The former Leona Beaver was born February 20, 1902, in Loyal and was educated at
Granton. She was married to Herbert Treu on May 28, 1926, at Minneapolis, Mn.
The couple lived in various places and last made their home at Appleton. Mr.
Treu died in February of 1963. Mrs. Treu moved to Granton about three years ago.
She was a member of Royal neighbors for over 50 years and was also a member of
St. Stephen’s Catholic Church.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Anita Landgraf and Mrs. Rosetta Meyer, both of
Granton, and a nephew, William Meyer of Marshfield. The three sisters were
honored at Granton’s Fall Festival earlier this year.
Pallbearers were Robert Spry, Durward Schwarze, John Hammond, William Morley,
Ewald Schlinsog and Loren Virnig.
