At Thorp High School's Class Night, which was held on May 18, 1968, Douglas
Woodworth, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Woodworth, received a $500 scholarship
from the Wis. American Legion as one of three statewide in its scholarship
contest. The citation on the scholarship read as follows:
"Be it known that on the basis of American Legion affiliation and participation
in its programs, and based on scholarship excellence, moral character, devotion
to the American way, personality, Leadership, and participation in
extra-curricular activities, Douglas D. Woodworth is hereby awarded an American
Legion Scholarship in the amount of $500.00 for the 1968-69 school year, to
assist in continuing his educational pursuits at the college or university of
his choice."
