East Weston-West York (3 Oct 1918)

The death of Mrs. Mary Kubat, wife of John Kubat of Neillsville, and formerly of the town of York, threw a deep gloom over her many friends and neighbors around her old home and throughout the country. Mary was always looked upon as one of the choicest of neighbors and no one will miss her any more than us kids and older ones who have always found her neat and tidy home welcome to all our harmless amusements, and we sympathize very deeply with her husband and family, her mother, sisters and brothers, who have long been our acquaintances. During the sickness and death we can have this to console us, that God usually takes those first who are best prepared and sends them ahead that we may follow in their footsteps.

Miss Vera Hurlburt and several other young ladies of Weston, through the guidance of Mrs. Walter Steinhaus, their music teacher, are fast climbing the musical scale on the piano.
