Shortville (3 Oct 1918)

The auction sale at Mary McPherson’s was well attended.

A farewell party was given Mrs. McPherson and Milton Saturday night. They will leave in about a week for Everett, Wash., to stay with her daughter, Mrs. Tom Heaslett.

Miss Eva Stevens is visiting Vivian Horton at Dells Dam at this writing.

Ralph Short returned from Davenport, Iowa, Friday, where he attended the M.W. convention as a delegate.

Mrs. Andrew Short entertained the Black, Bell, Bue and J.A. Short families in honor of her birthday for dinner Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. F.G. Wall and children returned to Evansville by auto Monday after a week’s visit here.

Ruby Evans taught school here last week for practice work in the teachers’ training course which she is taking in the high school.

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Irish are living at Neillsville, having moved from Alma Center recently.

Andrew Short and wife and George Bue and family spent Sunday with John Shaffer’s at Merrillan.
