Columbia (10 Oct 1918)
Mrs. Emma Wright spent several days last week with her daughter, Mrs. John Apfel,
of Levis.
Our county agent, Mr. Brown of Neillsville, gave an interesting talk at the hall
Saturday evening. He was accompanied by Mr. Halliday of The Waukesha Lime and
Stone Co. He sold several tons of lime to the farmers.
Mr. and Mrs. Peter Larson received a telegram Friday notifying them of the
serious illness of their son, John, at Camp Grant.
Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Ehlert received word last week of the safe arrival overseas
of their son, George.
Grant Rotleff is another of our boys who is a victim of Spanish influenza. Grant
is stationed in a training camp in Georgia.
Mr. and Mrs. John Apfel were Sunday visitors at the R.L. Rouse home.
Mrs. Viola Bonhoff will have an auction sale Thursday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bachman are packing up preparatory to moving back to St. Paul.
Pete Bachman has his new barn nearly completed.
