Snyder, Hamilton L. (30 NOV 1845 – 24 Oct 1918)
Hamilton L. Snyder died on Thursday morning of last week and in his passing the
county loses one of its oldest and most respected citizens. He came to Clark
County 46 years ago, and settled in the town of York, living there until 13
years ago when he and his wife came to Neillsville to make their home. Deceased
was born at Granville, Wis., Nov. 30, 1845, and was married to Miss Ella Bailey
in 1866. Three sons were born to them, two of whom survive their father, Frank
having died last January. The two sons who remain to comfort the bereaved wife
are Albion and Loren of Duluth. Two brothers, one sister and eleven
grandchildren also survive Mr. Snyder.
Deceased was a man who had so lived his life that his death was a matter of deep
and sincere regret on the part of all his many friends. He was a conscientious
friend and neighbor and an upright and industrious man. He was laid to rest on
Saturday morning, private services being held at the home and being conducted by
Rev. Colman.
