Schmidt, Ned Adrian (15 October 1956 - 11 July 2015)

Ned Schmidt, 58, died Saturday, July 11, 2015, at his home.

Ned Adrian Schmidt was born Oct. 15, 1956, in Neillsville, the son of Urban and Lila (Ure) Schmidt. He attended school in Neillsville and graduated in 1974 from Neillsville High School. After graduation Ned farmed with his parents and then started working for Lynn Protein in 1978. Aug. 16, 1986, he was united in marriage to Kristen L. Gappa at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville. In 1998, Ned began working for Egle Tire as a tire technician. He worked there until his health forced him to retire earlier this year.

Ned was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville. He was a 4th-degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus Council #4963. Ned was also a Neillsville Chamber of Commerce Ambassador and a FFA Alumni member. In his leisure time, Ned enjoyed spending time with his family, especially on camping and fishing trips. He enjoyed cutting wood and was always available to lend a hand to anyone in need of assistance.

He is survived by his wife, Kris; two sons: Russell Schmidt of Neillsville and Frank (Alyssa) Schmidt of Minneapolis, MN; three siblings: Debbie (Mike) Cronin of Shallotte, NC, Brad (Lori) Schmidt of Neillsville and Kim Schmidt of Neillsville; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Ned will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 18, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville. The Celebrant will be Rev. Varkey V. Joseph. Music will be provided by Vincent Cortez, organist, and St. Mary’s Choir. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Satruday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. A Knights of Columbus Rosary Service will be held at 8 p.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Casket bearers are Dan Schmidt, Dylan Schmidt, Becky Kizewski, Kaden Kizewski, Dwight Gappa and Tim Wendt.
