A bolt of lightning touched off a barn fire on the Richard Jarocki farm 4 miles
east, 2 miles north and 1/4 mile east of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), in the
township of Withee Sunday morning, July 14th, 1968 about 3:00 a.m. The Thorp
Volunteer Frie Department responded to the Call. Fire number 185.
The 36 ft. x 128 ft. barn, full of new hay, was a total loss Also lost in the
blaze was a bulk tank, barn cleaner and 2 silos severely damaged.
The barn was partly covered by insurance.
