Granton (29 November 1973)
The Granton Women’s Civic Club is to meet Monday evening, December 3, at the
home of Mrs. Marvin Garbisch for a Christmas Dinner party and gift exchange. A
collection will also be taken for CARE. There will be no business meeting.
Mrs. Luverne Schumacher is the program chairman.
Roland Quicker, who traveled to the western states with Mr. and Mrs. Henry
Knoll, Jr., returned home November 15 from a three-week visit in Auburn, Wa. The
Knolls went west for some elk hunting. Mr. Quicker was among successful deer
hunters the first Sunday of the season when he shot a four-point buck while
hunting with his son-in-law, Jerry Opelt.
The York Center community club was to meet Wednesday noon with Mrs. Inger Free
in Loyal.
Mrs. Myrtie Davis, Warren, Shirley and Jimmy were Thanksgiving supper guests at
the Bernard Kitzhaber home at rural Greenwood. On Wednesday, Mrs. Davis
accompanied Mrs. Bob Schultz and Mrs. Frank Ule and daughter, Penny, to Nekoosa
where they visited at the William Wolf home.
The UMW of the York Center United Methodist Church is to meet Wednesday noon,
December 5, for a Christmas Dinner at the home of Mrs. Marcia Crothers. Each
member will bring a dish to pass, and each will take part in the program.
Thanksgiving Day guests at the Harold Bender home were their daughters and
families, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Anderson and son of Libertyville, Il., and Mr. and
Mrs. Thomas Strey and family of Owen. The Andersons spent several days with her
parents.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Nowack were Thanksgiving evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Ray Barth at Bali Hai supper club.
Thanksgiving visitors at the Edward Wegner home were Mrs. Hulda Wegner of
Marshfield, Mrs. Helen Tolley and Miss Diane Wegner.
Zion Ladies Aid will meet Wednesday, December 5, at 2 p.m. at the church for a
Christmas potluck.
The Emil Henningers entertained their son, Vernon, and three of his sons, at
various times during the deer hunting season. The party of five hunters took
home three deer.
Thanksgiving Day guests at the Harold Ratsch home on Rt. 1 Greenwood, were Mr.
and Mrs. Roger Lau and children and Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Ratsch of Marshfield, Mr
and Mrs. Dale Riedel, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Ratsch and children, Mrs. Joseph
Sternitzky and Mr. and Mrs. Noll.
Thanksgiving Day and holiday weekend guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William
Lehmann were their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Mel Smith and children
of Appleton; daughter, Mrs. Carole Fox of Bloomington, Mn; and daughter and
son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Dageforde and daughter, Jill, of St. Paul, Minn.
