Bertz, Irene (7 AUG 1922 – 21 JAN 1970)
Irene Bertz, 47, Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), passed away on Jan. 21, 1970, at St.
Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 12:30 p.m. on
Jan. 24, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, with the Rev. N.E. King officiating.
Burial followed at the parish cemetery, with Roycraft Funeral Home making
arrangements.
The former Irene Shefchik was born Aug. 7, 1922. She lived with her parents
until she attended Eau Claire Institute, after which she worked for Norther
States Power; L.G. Arnold Company and the Brown Auto Company. She was married to
Roman Brown, and after his death in 1949, she was employed by several firms
until her second marriage to Jim Bertz on June 23, 1955, at Loyal.
She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, the Altar Society and
Catholic Knights of Wisconsin. She also served as Loyal City Clerk for a short
time.
She is survived by her husband and three children, Alois Brown, Neillsville, and
Mary and Jim, at home. Surviving brothers and sisters are Mrs. Peter (Evelyn)
Beyerl, Colby, Francis Shefchik, Rhinelander, and Leo Shefchik, Marshfield, and
her mother, Emma Shefchik.
A son preceded her in death.
