Lewan, Margaret A. “Marge” (26 November 1925 - 16 July 2015)
Margaret A. “Marge” Lewan, age 89, of Thorp, passed away on Thursday, July 16,
2015, at Oakbrook Health & Rehab in Thorp. Funeral services were held on
Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Thorp Funeral Home in Thorp. Burial
will take place at a later date in Riverside Cemetery in Withee. Visitation was
held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
Margaret A. Kramicz was born on November 26, 1925, in Kenosha, WI, to Joseph and
Pauline (Grendzinski) Kramicz. As a young child, Marge’s family moved to Thorp
where she later received her education at Yeager School. After completing her
education, Marge moved to Chicago. She worked in various factories during World
War II making bullets. She was united in marriage to Frank Lewan on December 4,
1948. When the war ended, she began employment with Illinois Bell as a telephone
operator and worked there for over 30 years until her retirement. She then moved
back to Thorp where she resided until her death.
Marge had many interests, but especially enjoyed knitting, crocheting and
gardening. She took great pride in her gardens and always shared her vegetables
with her family, neighbors and friends. Additionally, her lawn was always neatly
manicured and free of dandelions, which she totally hated!!
She is survived by two daughters: Valerie (David) Klepal of Chicago, IL, and
Sandra Lewan (fiancé Rich) of Downers Grove, IL; two grandchildren; one brother,
George Kramicz of Cudahy, WI; two sisters: Pauline (Art) Hall of Ashippun, WI,
and Oleta Hornacek of Whitman, MA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank, in July 1971;
two brothers: Chester and Joseph Kramicz; and two sisters, Dorothy Holloway and
Agnes Pawlukiewicz.
