Clark County Representative Frank Nikolay, Abbotsford, has been promoted to the
rank of Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve, with effective date of rank on Jan. 9,
1970. Nikolay, who has a total of 27 years military service, first enlisted in
the Wisconsin National Guards in 1933. He served on active duty with the 32nd
Division prior to World War II in Camp Livingston, La. During World War II he
served in the Naval Air Force and the Navy. He was awarded the Pacific Theater
operations medal and the Philippine Liberation medal. Her served at Ulithi
Lagoon, Leyte Gulf, Okinawa and at Sasebo, Japan, during his overseas service.
Following World War II Nikolay enlisted in Service Battery, 173rd Field
Artillery, 32nd Division, and at the time of his promotion, he had 21 years of
continuous service with the Guards. He will now be attached for training to the
U.S. Army Reserved headquarters at St. Louis, Mo.
