Baumann, Arthur A. (4 AUG 1923 - 25 JUL 2015)
Arthur A. Baumann, 91, town of Emmet, passed away on Saturday evening, July 25,
2015, at Tender Reflections, Weston, surrounded by his loving family.
Art was born on the family farm on Aug. 4, 1923, to the late Joseph and Mary
(Karl) Baumann. On May 8, 1946, he married the love of his life, Joan Bickel, at
St. Patrick’s Church in Halder. Together they raised nine children.
Upon retirement, he and Joan enjoyed many trips with Polka Productions and
Holiday Travel. He was a dairy farmer all his life and raised ginseng on the
family farm in the town of Emmet. For 20 years, he sold Jamesway farm equipment.
Many of the area farmers got their first silo unloaders and barn cleaners from
him. He also did custom combining and seed corn sales.
He was a faithful, lifelong member of St. Patrick’s Church in Halder in his
youth an altar boy, and later an usher, lector and collection counter, and
honorary member of the Knights of Columbus. He was the township treasurer for
the town of Emmet and served on the board of directors for Equity in Stratford
and president of Pine Valley Cheese Factory. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with
family and relatives, working outside and having the family together.
Besides his loving and devoted wife of 69 years, Joan, he is survived by his
nine children, Luanne Markrof, Schofield, Pat (Jim) Krause, Gerard (Carol)
Baumann, Allan (Gloria) Baumann, all of Edgar, Georgine Pagel, Schofield, Joan
(Don) Harris, Ontonagon, Mich., Connie (Christopher) Donlon, Elkhart Lake,
Jackie (John J.) Gorman, Mosinee, and John (Patty) Baumann, Edgar; 23
grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers; four sisters; and a son-in-law, LeRoy
Markrof.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2015, at St. Patrick
Catholic Church, Halder. The Rev. Msgr. Joseph Deirmeier and the Rev. Felix
Tigoy will preside. Burial will be in St. Patrick cemetery, Halder. Visitation
will be from 4 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Beste Funeral Home, Mosinee. Visitation
will be again from 10 a.m. Thursday until time of service at the church.
