Oehler, Ambrose H. (9 OCT 1875 – 29 JUN 1968)

Ambrose H. Oehler, 92, Abbotsford, died Saturday, June 29, 1968, at 8:10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, where he was a patient the last 11 days. The body lay in state at the Maurina Funeral Home at Dorchester, and funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 at Salem Evangelical United Brethren Church, Dorchester, with the Rev. Joseph Jeide officiating.

The pallbearers were William Kalepp, Abbotsford, Edward Brecke of Stetsonville, Ed Bittner, Richard Schmidt Jr., Joe Hennlich and Jack Miller of Dorchester.

Interment was made in the Dorchester Cemetery.

Mr. Oehler was born Oct. 9, 1875, at Erlville, Ia. For 20 years he managed a grain elevator in Thompson, Ia., and in 1919 came to the town of Holton (Marathon Co., Wis.) and farmed until 1952.

He then made his home with his children until about eight years ago, when he became a resident of the Leahy Nursing Home, Abbotsford.

Surviving him are four daughters and four sons: Mrs. Myrtle Miller and Mrs. Cecilia Jacobson of Forest City, Ia., Mrs. Nellie Tischendorf of Dorchester, Mrs. Ruby Barker of Spencer, Irving Oehler and Cecil Oehler of Abbotsford, Clinton Day Oehler of Apppleton, and Orville Oehler of Milwaukee.

He is also survived by 33 grandchildren, 87 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Nellie Sperring, who he married in Iowa, two daughters and one son, one brother and one sister.
