Schroeder, Emma D. (Schneider) (9 MAR 1924 - 3 SEP 2014)
Emma D. Schroeder, age 90, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away on Wednesday,
September 3, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 6, 2014
at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Rev. William
Menzel will officiate. Visitation will be at St. Vincent de Paul Church on
Saturday from 9:00-11:00 AM. Entombment will be at Forest Hill Mausoleum.
Emma was born on March 9, 1924 to Michael and Rosa Schneider in Rib Lake, WI.
She was the 7th child of 14 children in her family. Emma graduated from Rib Lake
High School in 1942.
She met Harry Schroeder in Rib Lake during a dance and dated for a number of
months before Harry was drafted in the U.S. Army during World War II. While
Harry was sent to war in Europe, Emma worked in Chicago doing office work at
Kempfer Insurance and at the Douglas Aircraft Company. Emma and Harry were
married on October 27, 1945 shortly after Harry returned.
Emma and Harry were married 61 years before his death in 2007. Emma raised five
children and has touched the lives of many more through her many years as a 4th
grade CCD teacher at St. Vincent de Paul Church.
Emma loved and enjoyed gardening, fishing, traveling, square dancing, visiting
with friends, playing cards and of course her children, grandchildren and great
grandchildren. She passed on to her family so many gifts, including her deep
love of Jesus and his teachings. She touched so many with her kindness and warm
heart. She will be deeply missed by those who loved her.
Emma is survived by all of her children, Barb Johnson of Oconomowoc; Gary
(Carol) Schroeder of Wisconsin Rapids; Harry (Karen) Schroeder of Hudson; Doreen
(Rick) Romanski of Wisconsin Rapids; and Steven (Kari) Schroeder of Wisconsin
Rapids; 13 grandchildren, David (Dawn) Schmidt, Kristen (Jason) Falkner, Teresa
(John) Haas, Lindsey (Kenneth) Zywicki, Lance Schroeder, Aaron Schroeder, Shawn
(Chrissy) Romanski, Jeff (Vicki) Romanski, Jessica (Travis) Tritz, Emily (Ethan)
Romanski, Kourtney (Grant) Keyzer, Karisa (Brian) Schroeder and Bryan (Kali)
Schroeder; 21 great grandchildren, Nolan, River, Scarlett, Emma, Franklyn,
Sophia, Jayden, Ethan, Noah, Lilah, Mason, Gavin, Teegan, Kiptyn, Atelyn, Landyn,
Chloe, Bryce, Brennan, Kenzi and Kayden.
Emma is also survived by 3 sisters, Margaret Seidel of Rib Lake; Agnes (Ross)
Peterson of Phillips and Marie (Paul) Froeba of Beloit; 1 brother, Gerald
(Adrianne) Schneider of Rib Lake; sister in law, Doris Schroeder of Nekoosa; and
many nieces and nephews. She is further survived by the McGrath family whom she
always called her own, Rob, Cheryl, Ted (Kim) and Lola, Erin (Can) and Milan and
Molly.
Emma was preceded in death by her husband Harry; son in law, Curtis Johnson, her
mother and father; brothers, Walter ,Norbert and Michael; sisters, Bernice,
Bertha, Rosemary, Anne, Frieda, and Rita; brother in laws, Jack, Roy, Leonard,
Herbert and Robert.
In lieu of flowers donations may be given to the Twin Parish in Haiti, c/o St.
Vincent de Paul Church in Wisconsin Rapids, WI.
