Smith, Jess A. (14 MAY 1902 – 23 JUL 1968)
Jess A. Smith, 66, Lake Geneva, a former Colby resident, died July 23, 1968.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, July 25 at the Methodist Church in
Lake Geneva, and burial was made in Oakhill Cemetery there.
Mr. Smith was born May 14, 1902 at Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.). His married to Nora
Carew, who preceded him in death Nov. 25, 1964, took place Aug. 5, 1930, at
Indus, Minn.
Mr. Smith recently retired as agriculture teacher at Badger High School in Lake
Geneva, where he had that position since 1938.
He was active in civic affairs and a member of the Kiwanis Club, Masonic Lodge
No. 44, F & AM, and the Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Ralph Smith; four grandchildren, and two brothers,
William of Milton and Vernon of Fond du Lac.
Attending the services from this area were Vernon A. Smith, Greenwood, Arnold G.
Smith of Loyal, and Mrs. Edward Brown of Colby.
