Washburn (3 January 1974)
Mrs. Donald Kerscher will entertain the Washburn Homemakers Club Wednesday,
January 9, with dinner served at noon. Members are to take some of their
antiques to display.
Mrs. George Gorbet will entertain the Cannonville Ladies Aid Wednesday, January
16, with dinner served at noon.
Mrs. Chris Feutz and son spent Monday and Christmas day with her son and
daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Feutz, in Wisconsin Rapids. After she arrived
home Christmas night her son, Roy, and family, called from Lander, Wy. Roy, Jr.,
(son of Roy Feutz) and his wife, who are stationed near Washington, D.C., were
spending two weeks furlough with his parents, so Mrs. Feutz talked with the
whole family.
Many of the neighbors and friends from this vicinity attended the funeral of
Horace Rodman at Georgas Funeral Home Wednesday. A lunch was served at the
Bernard Kuhn home following the funeral.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Piepenhagen of La Crosse, and Jane Anderson of Eau Claire,
spent the weekend with Mrs. Piepenhagen’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Merle Austin,
and Darrel. They had an early Christmas dinner on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs.
Piepenhagen, Jane Anderson and David Austin called on Mrs. Art Odell.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Stewart and son, Jeff, daughters, Jovey and Jana, of Verona,
were Christmas Eve and Christmas Day guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph
Short. The Stewarts had planned to get her parents to spend one Christmas with
them, but changed their plans Sunday morning as Mr. Short didn’t feel like
making the trip and was better too, due to the gas shortage.
Mrs. Delores McNeil and sons, of Streamwood, Il., spent from Saturday until
Wednesday over Christmas with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Havlicek, Sr.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Havlicek and family were Christmas guests of his parents,
also.
Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Pretsch and family of Stratford, Mrs. Wanda Pretsch and Earl
were Christmas Eve dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Jelinek. Mr. and Mrs.
Jerry Pretsch and family spent Monday with his mother, Wanda Pretsch and Earl.
Mr. and Mrs. John Reinart and sons, Wayne and Lee, daughter, Judy, Kent Lonning
and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Reinart were Christmas guests of Mr. and Mrs. Herman
Dahnert.
Mrs. Vera Dimmler and daughter, Dorothy, of Illinois spent the weekend and over
Christmas with her brother, Harry Carstenson. Mrs. Wanda Pretsch and son, Earl,
were Christmas dinner and supper guests of Mr. Carstenson and Mrs. Dimmler.
Mr. and Mrs. Ron (Buck) Wren and family of West Bend spent the weekend and over
Christmas with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mortenson and Mr. and Mrs.
Gilbert Wren.
Roger Williams and daughter, Lori and son, Roger Allen of Williams Bay, Mr. and
Mrs. Oliver Williams and sons, Wendell and Marvin, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence
Vandeberg and Mr and Mrs. Roy Chase were Christmas Eve guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Nathan Vandeberg at their cottage at Hatfield.
David Spiegel, who attends college in Milwaukee, and Bruce, Jr., who attends
college in Wausau, spent Christmas with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce
Spiegel.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Steponik of Pray visited Wednesday evening at the Mrs. Wanda
Pretsch home.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Kalsow, daughter, Barbara and son, Wayne, were supper guests
Thursday of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Reinart.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer were supper guests Wednesday of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph
Short.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Matuszak and family of Milwaukee, John Matuszak of Sheboygan
and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Staffon and family of Hatfield spent Christmas with their
parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Matuszak.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Schultz and daughters and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Schultz of
Waterford spent several days in their trailer home near the Dale Reinart home.
Mr. and Mrs. Ted Schultz attended the Horace Rodman funeral Wednesday. Mr. and
Mrs. Richard Schultz and family arrived Wednesday and enjoyed some snowmobiling
the rest of the week.
Roger Williams and family of Williams Bay, Mrs. Leon Mathews and daughter, Sara
Jo, of Lake Geneva, and Mr. and Mrs. George Sherwood were Christmas guests of
Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Williams.
Mrs. Art Odell was a Christmas dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lincoln.
Mr and Mrs. Tom Sorenson and family , Mr. and Mrs. Paul Groskreutz and family of
Wausau, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Gumz of Cedarburg, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Kuhn of Tomah,
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Kuhn, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kuhn, Mrs. Birdine Oman of Jackson,
Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Bob Rodman and son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle
Rodman of Minocqua, and Mrs. Horace Rodman were Christmas guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Bernard Kuhn.
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Junchen of Sherrard, Il., spent Christmas with Mrs. Harold
Junchen and Myra Junchen.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Urban and daughter, Brenda, Mrs. Irving Stevens, Mr. and Mrs.
Jim Vincent and Joyce, Mrs. Floyd Wall and Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Stetler were
Christmas guests of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Dopp in Marshfield.
Mr. and Mrs. Michael Kissling and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Melvin were Christmas
dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kissling and Mrs. Harry Kissling.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim West were Thursday evening visitors at the Mrs. Harold Junchen
and Myra Junchen home.
Mr and Mrs. Francis Jacobson of Sherwood were recent visitors at the Mrs. Art
Odell home.
