Porath, Norman A. (21 MAR 1926 – 30 JUL 2015)
Norman A. Porath, 89, of Marshfield died on Thursday, July 30, 2015, at Ministry
St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.
Per Norman's wish, there was no funeral. Burial was in the Loyal City Lutheran
Cemetery
Norman was born March 21, 1926 in Milwaukee, WI, son of Alfred and Jennie (Salo)
Porath. At the age of 3 he and his parents moved to Owen, WI, where they started
farming. At the age of 17, Norman helped on a farm in the Oshkosh area owned by
John Cox. He returned to the home farm in 1950, when his brother, Edwin, entered
the army. Norman continued farming until 1971.
On September 11, 1971, Norman married Ruth Henninger in Marshfield. Together
they were involved in the foster care program and enjoyed going to dances and
traveling to many different cities and states.
Norman was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Marshfield, where he also
served as their maintenance man for 16 years.
Norman resided at the Cedar Rail Apartments for the past 20 years, where he kept
busy constructing replicas of trains, old farm machinery and his home and town
buildings. Farming was truly in his heart and many family members were blessed
to hear him tell of "the good old days."
Norman will be greatly missed by his stepchildren, Gary Levenhagen of Rock
Island, TN; Eldon Henninger of Glendale, AZ; and Norma Weiler of Madison, WI.
Norman considered his brothers' children as his own. These include Rod (Debi)
Porath of Loyal, WI; Randy (Julie Motte) Porath of Owen, WI; and Denise (Ron)
Kovalaske of Owen, WI.
Norman was also very close to his nephew's and niece's children especially Chad
and his step-grandchildren, where Coral and Kim held a special place in his
heart.
Besides his parents and his wife, Ruth, he is preceded in death by his brother,
Edwin, and a niece, Debra Brown.
This remarkable man will be dearly missed by many friends and family.
Rembs Funeral Home in Marshfield assisted the family.
