Carl Harlin is hospitalized at Memorial Hospital following a heart attack.
The UMW of York Center United Methodist Church met January 2 with Mrs. Joe
Zvolena as hostess. Mrs. Marcia Crothers led the first study of the Book of
Luke. Plans were made for the World Day of Prayer observance in March. Women of
the Loyal United Methodist Church will be guests.
Mrs. Manford Cain sustained a cracked vertebra in a fall recently and was taken
to Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The Friendship Club is to meet Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Julius Rennak
in Neillsville.
York Sew and So Homemakers are to meet today (Thursday) with Mrs. Milford Rowe.
New officers will be installed.
Mr. and Mrs. John Salzer of Wausau and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Downer of Neillsville
were Sunday visitors at the Clarence Ganther home. Margo Ganther, who spent the
Christmas and New Year’s vacation with her patents, returned Sunday to
Cambridge, Mn, where she is a music instructor in the public schools.
Tentative plans have been made by the Friendly Neighbors Club to hold an oyster
supper January 18 at the Erwin Farnsworth home.
Mrs. Myrtie Davis, Warren, Shirley and Jimmy were New Year’s Eve supper guests
at the Bernard Kitzhaber home at rural Greenwood.
Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Noll were Sunday dinner guests of her mother, mrs. Joe
Sternitzky.
The UMW of the Granton United Methodist Church met Thursday afternoon with Miss
Ruth Pietenpol. Mrs. Clarence Ganther was the hostess. The beginning session of
the study of Luke was led by Mrs. Erwin Farnsworth. The group will meet next
month at the home of Mrs. Farnsworth. Mrs. Ganther will be the Bible study
leader.
Mrs. Verla Hales and son, Alvin, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. William Miller
and Family in Clintonville.
Veefkind Homemakers are to meet January 22 with Mrs. Marvin Schmoll on Rt. 2
Spencer.
Mrs. Myrtie Davis and Warren, Mrs. William Wolf and Annette of Nekoosa and Mrs.
Ed Lezotte of Pleasant Ridge attended the funeral services December 24 at the
Viroqua Church of Christ for Mrs. Jessie Nicks. Mrs. Nicks, an aunt of Mrs.
Davis and Mrs. Lezotte, would have been 95 years old in March.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Schlinsog were among New Year’s Day guests at the Everett
Kauffman home.
Fremont Homemakers are to meet today (Thursday) with Mrs. Curtis Cochran on
Pleasant Ridge.
