Fenske, Mr./Mrs. Albert (Gold – 11 DEC 1968)
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Fenske of Dorchester celebrated their golden wedding
anniversary Sunday, Sept. 1, 1968. The event began with family attendance at St.
Peter's Lutheran Church of Dorchester. A special prayer was offered by the Rev.
F.H. Sprengler for the honored couple and Paul Nixdorf sang "Jesus, Lead Thou
On."
A family dinner was held at Memorial Hall, Dorchester, and open house for
friends and relatives took place from 2 to 5 o'clock. A special anniversary
cake, made and decorated by Mrs. Fenske's half-sister, Miss Elsie Bremer of
Abbotsford, centered the table.
Albert Fenske, son of Mr. and Mrs. August Fenske, was born at Gillett Nov. 19,
1896. Mrs. Fenske, the former Minnie Majewski, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael
Majewski, was also born at Gillett March 12, 1899. Their marriage took place
Dec. 11, 1918, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Fred Moecker
officiating.
After their marriage they farmed in the town of Mayville (Clark Co., Wis.) until
1958, when they retired. They then lived in Abbotsford until about three years
ago, when they moved to Dorchester. Mr. Fenske works part time at Streckert
Manufacturing, Abbotsford. Mr. Fenske was a town supervisor for the town of
Mayville. Both Mr. and Mrs. Fenske are members of St. Peter's Lutheran Church,
Dorchester, and Mrs. Fenske is a member of the Ladies' Aid.
The children and 13 of the 15 grandchildren were home for the anniversary
celebration. They are Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Fenske and family, Dorchester, Mr.
and Mrs. Norman Fenske and family, Ellsworth, Mr. and Mrs. Carl (La Vera)
Slattengren and Carla of Hayward, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Alden (Elayne) Emmerich
and family of Joliet, Ill., and Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Marlis) Klieforth of
Neillsville. Another son, Edwin, is deceased.
Two grandsons in service, DuWayne Fenske, with the Air Force in Denver, Colo.,
and Jerry Fenske of the Air Force, Mather AFB, Calif., were here for the
celebration, while two more grandsons in service, Michael and Gary Slattengren,
U.S. Navy, San Diego, Calif., expect to be sent to Vietnam soon and were unable
to come.
Mr. and Mrs. Emil (Anna Majewski) Neuman of Oconomowoc, and Mrs. Frieda Busse
Seehafer of Marshfield, attendants at the wedding were present for the
celebration. The fourth attendant, Fed Moecker Jr., is deceased.
Others from away came from Menomonee, Mich., Joliet, Ill., Oconto Falls,
Milwaukee, Fort Atkinson, Oconomowoc, Ixonis, Eden, Marshfield and Abbotsford.
