Ceremonies are being planned to award a Silver Star, and other medals, to the
family of Dennis Klimpke who died in Vietnam April 15.
He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Klimpke of route 2, Colby.
The Silver Star is one of the nation's highest awards for heroism. Other medals
to be given are the Purple Heart and campaign ribbons.
The awards ceremony will be held Saturday night, Sept. 28, at the Colby City
Hall, at 7:30 p.m.
Participating in the ceremony will be Army Capt. Hover of Wausau and Col.
Johnson of Madison. The Colby Veterans of Foreign Wars will act as the color
guard.
Sp/4 Klimpke was serving in the infantry at the time of his death. He was
inducted into the army in August 1967, and was assigned to Vietnam in January of
this year.
