Horswill, Halbert (Hallie) (29 August 1911 - 8 January 1974)

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Georgas Funeral Home for Halbert (Hallie) Horswill, 62, well-known Neillsville businessman who died January 8, at West Palm Beach, Fl., where he was spending the winter. The Rev. Gary Clark of the United Church of Christ officiated and interment was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mr. Horswill, the son of Mrs. Libbie (Bowen) Horswill of Memorial Home and the late R. M. Horswill, was born August 29, 1911, at Longwood, was educated in county schools, and graduated from Neillsville High School with the class of 1929.

For a time, he worked in Milwaukee in the photography business. His marriage to the former Nellie Euline Hogan took place there, March 20, 1933. Returned to Neillsville, he was employed at the American Stores Dairy for 11 years. Mr. Horswill operated the All Aboard restaurant and, in later years, Horswill’s Cafe.

Survivors, in addition to his mother and his wife, are two sons, James Horswill of Neillsville and Donald Horswill of West Palm Beach, Fl.; one sister, Mrs. Wayne (Joyce) Wall of West Palm Beach; three brothers, Edward Horswill of West Palm Beach, Merline Horswill of Hales Corners and Hugh Horswill of Janesville; and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Gerald Dankemyer, Orville Jake, John Rychnovsky, Harold Naedler, Gareth Bollom and Bill Kuchenbecker.

“Beyond the Sunset” and “In the Garden” were sung by Ellis Wall. Mrs. James Spangler was the accompanist.

Moberg, Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Horswill, Janesville; Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Horswill, Hales Corners; Mr and Mrs. Jack Parrett, Freeport, Il.; Mr. and Mrs. Wordel Boone and Mr. and Mrs. James Weber, Nekoosa; Donald Paulus, Onalaska; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Klapatauskas, Withee; Harold Naedler, St. Paul, Mn, Sugar Horswill, Washington, D.C.
