Spuhler, LaVern N. (7 AUG 1930 – 14 AUG 2015)
LaVern N. Spuhler, 85, Loyal, passed away on Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, at Ministry
Saint Joseph's Hospital, in Marshfield. No services will be held. Interment will
take place in the Loyal Cemetery at a later date.
LaVern Norton Spuhler was born on Aug. 7, 1930, in the town of Lincoln, Wood
County, rural Marshfield, the only child of Norton and Ethel (nee Laufenberg)
Spuhler. He was raised on the family farm and received his education at the
Catholic school in Marshfield. LaVern married Inez E. Free on Dec. 31, 1949.
They farmed for a short time in the Neillsville area, then Marshfield, and in
1954, purchased a farm in the town of Loyal. In addition to farming, LaVern also
did custom field work for 25 years and drove school bus for 35 years. LaVern had
many interests, but especially enjoyed spending time with his family,
woodworking, and traveling with his wife, Inez.
He is survived by his children, Michael (Sharon) Spuhler, Loyal, Jack (Barb)
Spuhler, Thorp, and Cathi (Dale) Goodwin, Loyal; five grandchildren, Thomas
(Jenny) Spuhler, Loyal, Tracy Fischer, Stratford, Kenneth (Tammy) Spuhler, Elk
Mound, Kevin (Kimber) Spuhler, Hastings, Minn., and Damon (Tracy) Goodwin,
Marshfield; six great-grandchildren, Cheyanne and Alexis Spuhler, Sara and
Rachel Fischer, and Samantha and Devon Goodwin; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Inez, on Dec. 28, 2013.
