Poler, Madelene (27 November 1891 - 21 January 1974)
Funeral services are scheduled this (Thursday) afternoon at 1:30 p.m. from the
Georgas Funeral Home for Mrs. William (Madelene) Poler, 82, of Memorial Home who
died January 21. The Rev. Gary Clark of the United Church of Christ is to
officiate. Burial will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
The daughter of William Henry and Laura (Hook) Shiltz, Madelene Poler was born
November 27, 1891, at Boaz in Richland County and was educated at rural schools
in the Richland Center area and at Shortville. On June 12, 1909, in Neillsville,
she was married to William Poler. The couple farmed in North Dakota for seven
years, then returned to Clark County to farm. They retired and moved to the city
in 1958. Mr. Poler preceded his wife in death on may 30, 1973.
She is survived by seven children: Mrs. Albert (Helen) Kapfer of West Bend, Mrs.
Lois Mathews of Lake Geneva, Mrs. George (Ardis) Sherwood of Neillsville, Mrs.
Oliver (Hazel) Williams of Granton, Mrs. Ethel Henne of Lomira and Charles and
Robert Poler, both of West Bend. She is further survived by 25 grandchildren, 14
great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
