A barn at the farm of Ted Pflanzer, two miles east and one mile south of Colby,
was destroyed by fire on Monday afternoon, Oct. 14, 1968.
The fire was discovered by Mr. Pflanzer, who immediately called the Colby Fire
Department. The cause of the fire nor the value of the damage are not known at
this time.
The 34 foot by 132 foot barn contained hay, straw and oats, which were all
destroyed.
No livestock were lost, but a milk house, which was attached to the barn, was
also destroyed. The bulk tank and the milk buckets were saved ,when Colby
firemen tore out a wall of the milk house.
A machine shed north of the building, was sprayed by Colby firemen and kept from
burning.
