Barkow, Mary (1892? – 7 OCT 1968)

Funeral services for Mrs. William (Mary) Barkow, 76, who died Monday, Oct. 7, 1968, were held Thursday morning at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Marshfield. Burial was made in Hillside Cemetery.

The Barkows operated a tavern and dance hall near Athens for 25 years. They farmed near loyal until 1948, and then built a home in rural Marshfield. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1966.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Barkow became residents at the Marshfield Convalescent Center a few weeks ago.

Surviving her, besides her husband, are two sons, Orville, rural Abbotsford, and Elmer of rural Marshfield. There are seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She also leaves three brothers, Frank and George Stanle, Marshfield, Louis Stangle of Tacoma, Wash., and three sisters, Mrs. William (Madeline) Vincent of Tacoma and Mrs. Russell (Ann) Stone of Wickenburg, Ariz., and Mrs. Mark (Cathryn) Smith of Williams, Ariz.

A grandchild and two sisters preceded her in death.

Among the relatives from this vicinity who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Orville Barkow Sr., Clarence Barkow, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Barkow Jr., Abbotsford, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Barkow, Mrs. Leila Hopperdietzel, Mrs. Charles Brumm, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Ewan, Mrs. Herman Zuebke, Harvey Zuebke, Mrs. Marvin Ewan and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Barkow, Athens.
