Billman, Clarence (16 APR 1902 – 19 OCT 1968)
Clarence Billman, 66, of Plainfield, formerly of Colby, died October 19, 1968 at
10:20 a.m. at the hospital at Wild Rose, after an illness of one and one-half
years.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Plainfield.
Mr. Billman was born April 16, 1902, at Marshalltown, Ia., the first son of Mr.
and Mrs. Walter E. Billman. He was educated in Iowa and in 1920 came to
Wisconsin with his parents. On Sept. 29, 1923, he was married at Bancroft to
Grace Blair. They made their home at Colby, where he was patrolman on Highway 13
before it was paved.
Later he worked in a diary at Marshfield and then farmed in the Plainfield and
wild Rose area until 1936, when he lost a leg in a farm accident. He then
operated a shoe repair shop in Plainfield.
He is survived by his wife and six children: Dale, Russell, Walter and Mrs. Joe
(Pearl) Fargo, all of Plainfield, Mrs. Claire (Marjorie) McIntee of Bancroft and
Glenn Billman of Neenah.
He also leaves three brothers and three sisters: Andrew Billman and Mrs. William
(Clara) Garbisch of Belle Gardens, Calif., Wilbur Billman of Burlington, Wis.,
Virgil Billman of Chandler, Ariz., Mrs. Art (Ruth) Leichtnam of Abbotsford, Mrs.
Milton (Emma) Meske, route 1, Curtiss, and his stepmother, Mrs. Emma Billman of
Colby.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Lawrence, his parents, one brother
and three sisters.
