Smith, Meretta "Polly" (Fritz) (8 NOV 1923 - 14 AUG 2015)

Meretta "Polly" Smith, age 91, of Owen, passed away peacefully at the Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center on Friday, August 14, 2015. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 19 at 11:00 AM at the United Church of Christ in Owen. Pastor Asafa Rajaofera will officiate. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Withee.

Family and friends are welcome from 10:00 AM until time of service on Wednesday at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen is entrusted with the arrangements.

Polly was born on November 8, 1923, the daughter of Walter and Belle (Roney) Fritz. She was united in marriage to Jens Smith on November 8, 1941 in Owen. He preceded her in death in 1989.

Polly worked at DHIA (Dairy Herd Improvement Association) for 33 years. She also helped her husband on the farm. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Church Circle #3 and card clubs. Polly enjoyed sewing, gardening and spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.

Polly is survived by her son, David (Jane) Smith, daughter, Beverly (Kenneth) Thorson; one brother, Allen (Barbara) Fritz; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and five siblings.
