(Miller) Brede.
She attended High School. Bernadine left high school to care for her younger
siblings while her mother worked. Bernadine spent much of her younger life
caring for her younger siblings. She lost her father when she was nine years
old. Bernadine was the second of five children. After her mother remarried,
Bernadine became the sister of four more siblings.
Bernadine met the love of her life, Gerald “Jerry” R. Ziehlke, and they were
married on August 3, 1947 in North Dakota. Bernadine loved being a wife, mother,
and homemaker. She loved to cook, sew, make crafts, very active in church and
had so many other talents. She worked as a waitress and they also raised mink
for many years. Bernadine helped with their care. In later years they purchased
a Montgomery Ward’s Store in Medford, which they owned and operated for several
years. Eventually they then opened a Furniture Store on Highway 13 in Medford.
Bernadine worked full time at both the Montgomery Ward’s business until it sold
and later at the furniture business. Bernadine had many health problems
throughout her life but she still managed to overcome them and care for her
family and home and do her fair share of providing for their family. Bernadine
was a very caring and loving lady and will be greatly missed by her family and
many friends.
She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Medford.
