Eide, Emma (28 June 1883 - 12 January 1974)
Funeral services were held Thursday from the Georgas Funeral Home for Mrs. Emma
Eide, formerly of Neillsville and Chili, who died January 12, in Mesa, Az., at
the age of 90. The Rev. Richard Muehl of Wisconsin Rapids officiated and burial
was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
Mrs. Eide was born June 28, 1883, in the Chili area and was educated there. The
daughter of Mr and Mrs. Gottleib Sanger, she was married to Harry Eide at Chili
in 1914. The couple operated a cheese factory at Chili Corners for 14 years,
operated an implement business in Chili and then came to Neillsville where they
operated The Sweet Shoppe for several years, retiring in 1935. Mr. Eide dies in
1941. Mrs. Eide had made her home in Mesa for the past eight years.
Surviving are five children: Halvor Eide of Chili and Mesa, Az, Mrs. Nelson
(Meta) Wade of Seattle, Wa., Marvin Eide of Columbus, Ms., Mrs. Arthur (Bernice)
Laabs, of Mesa, Az., and Mrs. Marcus (Rachel) Baumann of Scottsdale, Az.; and 13
grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were: Herb Puscheck, Almon Vandeberg, Jas. Musil, David Grottke,
Wayne Jahr and Oscar Bartsch. Mrs. Norman Faber and Mrs. Henry Grottke sang
“Abide With Me” and “Memorial Hymn”. They were accompanied by Mrs. Harold
Montag.
Among those who attended the services were the following from out-of-town: Mr.
and Mrs. David Grottke, Mrs. Robert Spiegelberg and Mrs. Harry Morphy, Rockford,
Il.; Halvor Eide, Mesa, Az.; and many from the Chili-Granton area.
