Kloth, David (15 APR 1943 - 10 NOV 1968)
David Kloth, 25, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Kloth, route 1, Dorchester, was
killed at 5:15 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, 1968, when the car he was driving went out
of control 1/4 mile north of Jerkwater on County Truck F., about 1/2 mile north
of A., five miles east of Dorchester.
Marathon County sheriff's department reports said Kloth was traveling south on
County Truck F. and missed a curve. The car crossed to the opposite side of the
road, plunged into a ditch and still possessed enough speed to carry it across a
river 44 feet wide, where it smashed into a rock pile.
Kloth was thrown from the driver's seat and landed 35 feet from the vehicle.
He was dead on arrival at the Colby Clinic after being taken there by Abbotsford
ambulance. He had suffered severe head injuries and fractures. A passenger in
the car, Victor Rabehl, 15, Rib Lake, suffered a broken left arm, internal
injuries and a fracture left leg.
Funeral services for Kloth were held Wednesday, Nov. 13, at St. Peter's Lutheran
Church in Dorchester, where he also received his education. He was married May
2, 1964, to Carol Zerbe, who survives him. After his marriage he was employed at
the Northern Star Mobile Home in Stratford. He was a member of St. Peter's
Lutheran Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Patricia and Roy; his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Kloth, Dorchester; four brothers, Kenneth of Edgar,
Jerry of Belvidere, Ill., and Lyle and Jesse, both of Dorchester; two sisters,
Mrs. Charles Gebert, North Aurora, Ill., and Bonnie, Dorchester; his
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Schwartz of Dorchester and Mr. and Mrs. Henry
Kloth of Wausau, and also his mother-in-law, Mrs. Betty Hulce of Tripoli.
