Miller, Mary Jean (21 NOV 1968)
Mary Jean Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo D. Miller, Colby, and James N.
Diedrich, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norbert F. Diedrich, Colby, were united in
marriage Thursday, Nov. 21, 1968, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church,
Colby, with Father John E. Olson officiating.
The maid of honor was Karen Nikolai, Unity, and the best man was Gene Raatz of
Iron River.
The bride was attired in a floor length gown of white velvet, fashioned with
long sleeves and semi-fitted princess style skirt attached at a high rise
waistline. The fitted bodice with jeweled neckline was enhanced with lace over
satin appliques. Her floor length mantilla of Chantilly lace was attached to a
velvet bow headpiece. She carried a bouquet of red escort roses with white satin
bows.
The maid of honor wore a wine berry velvet floor length gown of princess style,
with long sleeves. She wore a white fur headpiece with pouf veil. She carried a
white muff adorned with red escort roses.
Music for the ceremony was played by Sister Louise Marie.
Festivities of the wedding day included a reception and buffet luncheon at the
home of the bride's parents.
Both the bride and groom attended Colby High School and Diedrich graduated from
Great Lakes Naval Training Base on Nov. 8.
The newlyweds plan to return to Great Lakes, Ill., where the groom will receive
further training in diesel engineering.
