Humbird (31 January 1974)
Intended for last week:
Mild weather, but who likes the ice we had recently? Haven’t heard of anyone so
far! The little flurry of snow in the evening has helped some. Sun just peeped
out today.
Mrs. Levi Fitzmaurice and daughter, Hazel, came home recently from Rochester,
where they had been with Mr. Fitzmaurice in a hospital, and report him not too
good, after several operations, but with hopes that Mrs. Fitzmaurice would find
him better when she returned to Rochester Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Laffe were business callers in Eau Claire recently.
Mr. and Mrs. Perle Pickett were supper guests recently at the Lloyd Meyer home
in Neillsville.
Mr. and Mrs. Rolla Sieg of Fairchild were recent dinner guess of Mr. and Mrs.
Bernard Sieg.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Trachsel drove to Rochester, Mn, recently taking his mother,
Millie Trachsel, to a hospital for a complete check-up as she hasn’t been too
well.
Mr. and Mrs. Thane Joos of Alma Center were visitors recently at the home of her
mother, Maude Newton.
Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Taylor of Mosinee were here recently doing some work for
Mrs. Anita Markham. Mrs. Taylor remained for a week before returning home.
Mrs. Margaret Walker of St. Paul spent a day with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Archie Kirby recently. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Seuske of St. Paul also spent the
days in the Kirby home.
Word came from Will Hein saying how nice the weather was in Scott City, Kans;
but that they had had about three inches of snow and that he couldn’t take his
daily walk. Mrs. Hein is improving, though, still weak. He states that they have
met several people and how nice they were but both still long for their
Wisconsin friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Laffe were in La Crosse recently and on the way home stopped
to have supper with his sister, Mrs. Emma Haag and Leonard in rural Melrose.
Mr. and Mrs. Dewayne Parent were Eau Claire visitors recently.
Mrs. John Phillips and Marion spent some time in Port Edwards at the home of her
son, Robert Phillips, whose little son underwent surgery.
Mrs. Washburn is on a list of folks who are not too well.
