Drescher, Lydia (7 January 1885 - 25 January 1974)

Funeral services were held Monday from the Georgas Funeral Home for Mrs. Oscar (Lydia) Drescher of Memorial Home who died January 25 at the age of 89. The Rev. Gary Clark of the United Methodist Church of Christ officiated and burial was in the Town of Grant Cemetery.

Lydia Drescher, the daughter of John and Louise (Negart) Machel, was born January 7, 1885, in Hungary and came to the United States with her parents. She was married to Oscar Drescher on July 26, 1903, in Clark County. The couple farmed. Mr. Drescher preceded his wife in death in 1941.

Mrs. Drescher worked in a hospital in Chicago for a number of years and returned to Neillsville in 1966. She had been a resident of Memorial Home for the past three and one-half years.

Survivors include a son, Warren Drescher of Tacoma, Wa, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were Tony Hantke, Ernest Kuechenmeister, Oliver Williams, Edgar Spiegel, Pete Smith and Ted Kissling. “In the Garden” and “The Old Rugged Cross” were sung by Mrs. Steve Knoop. Mrs. Iris Musil was the accompanist.

Those from out of town attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. Larry Fitzmaurice and son of River Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Drescher of Tomah and Mrs. Irene Drescher of Greenwood.
