Dux, Martha (20 August 1891 - 22 January 1974)
Mrs. Ben (Martha) Dux of Neillsville, a native of the Town of Weston, died
January 22 at the age of 82. Funeral services were held Saturday from St. John’s
Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiating.
Interment was in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the
Georgas Funeral Home.
The daughter of Ed and Caroline (Hoeftman) Meihack, Mrs. Dux was born August 20,
1891, in the Town of Weston and was educated there. She worked in Minneapolis
for several years. Her marriage to Ben Dux took place May 23, 1917, in the Town
of Grant. The couple farmed in the Town of Grant for 35 years, then retired and
moved to Neillsville in 1952. Mrs. Dux was a member of St. John’s Evangelical
Lutheran Church.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include one daughter, Mrs. Francis
(Evelyn) Haines of Marshfield; two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Minnie) Thoma of
Neillsville and Mrs. Erna Zink of Clinton; one brother, Alvin Meihack of
Neillsville, and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Melvin A. Dux, Erwin Dux, Ron Meihack, Harold Dahl, George
Thoma and Donald Zink. Mrs. Harold Mayer sang “Sleep in Jesus and “The Lord is
My Shepherd”, accompanied by Victor Lehmann.
Among those who attended the services were the following from out-of-town: Mr.
and Mrs. Francis Haines, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Haines and family and Mr. and Mrs.
Jim Becker and family, Marshfield; Lloyd Haines, Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Donald
Haines, Hazel Zink and Erna Zink, Clinton; Herman Dux, Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Dux,
George Dahl, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Dahl and Mr. and Mrs. Verland Dux, Loyal; Mr.
and Mrs. Earl Walters, St. Paul, Mn, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Freedlund, Pittsville;
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Foemmel, Granton; and Mr. and Mrs. Byron Haines, Monroe.
