Thurber, Clara (2 SEP 1881 – 15 APR 1970)

Clara Thurber, 88, of Peoria, Ill., formally of Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), passed away at 3:00 p.m., April 15, 1970, at Peoria.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., April 20, at the Roycraft Funeral Home, Loyal, and burial followed at the Loyal Cemetery.

The Rev. Leonard Karlberg of Peoria, officiated at the services, and Linda Larson sang, "In My Father's House" and "Nearer My God to Thee." Mrs. Gladys Olson accompanied on the organ. Pallbearers were Vern Rogstad, Bill Butterbrodt, Edgar Verhalen, Calvin Young, Glen Bennett, and Jim Larson.

She was born Clara Young on Sept. 2, 1881 at Walworth, Wis. She was married on December 19, 1901 to Dr. George Thurber.

Shew as raised in the Walworth, Wis. area and moved to Loyal after her marriage, where he husband was a veterinarian for many years.

She lived with her daughter for the past six years in Peoria, Ill.

She is survived by three children, Mrs. Richard (Nancy) Larsen, Peoria, Ill., Mrs. Dale (Genevieve) West, Connell, Wash., and George of Bonita Springs, Fla. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. John Swaney, Bonita Springs, Fla., and by eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
