Marg, Kathy (Miss Neillsville - 1974)
One of sixteen competing high school juniors took the beg step Saturday evening
when she was named the new Miss Neillsville for 1974.
Crowned was Kathy Marg, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Marg, 18 Hewett St.
Neillsville.
In an impressive ceremony, conducted by the Business and Professional Women’s
Club of Neillsville for the winter carnival committee and emceed by Robert
Lulloff, the contestants were each introduced at 10:00 p.m. to a packed crowd at
the carnival’s snowball dance held at the Silver Dome Ballroom.
The new Miss Neillsville was crowned by last year’s reigning beauty, Martha
Drescher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Art Drescher.
First runner-up in the event was Candace Raine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Darrel
Raine, Rt. 1 Neillsville. Second runner up was Tracey Meredith, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Tom Meredith, Rt. 1 Neillsville.
In a special tribute last year’s crown bearer offered a special thank-you to
Shari Kessler, last year’s runner-up, who took over Martha’s duties during her
recovery from an auto accident.
Other contestants included: Diane Kronberger, Julie Menne, Sandy Zimmerman,
Cindy Kunze, Cindy Becker, Ellen Olson, Jacqueline Darling, Mabel Benson, Patsy
Thoma, Barb Watenpuhl, Sandy Rhoades, Debbie Meier and Mary Appleyard.
Duties for the new Miss Neillsville include attending area community events,
parades, and aiding the city fathers in promotion of Neillsville as a place to
live, grow, and work. Her travels will be aided by several Neillsville
organizations.
