Hammond, Jerome (Jerry) (16 September 1937 - 23 January 1974)

Memorial services for Jerome (Jerry) Hammond, 36, of Butler, and a native of Loyal, were held Sunday at the united Methodist Church in Butler. The Rev. Sharon A. Brown Christopher was in charge. Following cremation, interment was made in the Wisconsin Memorial park, Milwaukee.

Mr. Hammond underwent open heart surgery at University Hospital, Madison, in 1968. For the last 12 years he had been employed at the Ken Cook Company, where he died unexpectedly January 23, while at work.

Mr. Hammond was born September 16, 1937, in Loyal. He was graduated from Loyal High School in 1956. On October 19, 1959, he was married to the former Kathy Gempeler, who survives. They moved to Milwaukee and later to Butler. He was active in youth work with the Scouts and softball, as well as in civic affairs.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Donald, at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Hammond, Loyal; a brother William Hammond, Butler; and two sisters, Mrs. Ray (Rose) Dusso of Menomonie, and Mrs. Richard (Mary Ann) Hebert of Loyal.

Those attending the services included: Mr. and Mrs. George Hammond, Mrs. Richard Hebert and Mrs. Werner Gempeler, all of Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Lee and daughters, and Mrs. Ray Dusso and son, all of Menomonie; Mrs. Ralph Sossaman of Abbotsford; and Erwin Gempeler of Barrington, Ill.
